A Simple Philosophy:
Listen, Observe, Apply:

For what ever the reasons, film and video have always been an egocentric driven profession. In my observations and experiences, I have witnessed film and video professionals put 'ego' ahead of 'goal' when producing a product for a client. My objective is to simply make the project about the goal, the aim, the purpose and let the 'creativity' be the proverbial icing on the cake.

Client relationships are critical in the film, video, AND NOW, the new media profession. It's important that all sides are comfortable with each other and can develop a relationship in order to meet the goals of the project. I personally enjoy listening to clients, their employees and their customers. The information obtained from these talks have yielded GOLD in return on the client's investment in a media project.

Where It All Started
I got involved in media in the very early 1990's when I returned to college to get my second degree, this time, in the 'Arts'. Just as a side note, I studied what was called at the time 'multi image media' under professor Ron Slawson. Ron is considered the father of what is now called 'multi-media'.

While going back to college I worked both for a local ABC network that was really a video production house for ESPN and the Sunshine Network. Here, I learned professional studio lighting for video and non-liner editing back when non-linear editing was in it's infancy.

Also, I was very fortunate to participate in a college 'work study' program (much better than an internship) at the Veterans Administration 'Medical Media' department. Here, I was involved in many 'digital' media projects BEFORE digital film was widely used. The U.S. government had the internet BEFORE the public did and, I had participated in many professional new media projects BEFORE IT WAS EVEN CALLED NEW MEDIA. While working at the Medical Media department, I worked in the production of professional and academic video conferences using satellite uplink technology. This is just and overview of many, many detail oriented media system tasks we as a department performed.

Moving On
My experiences both in college and the 'real world' work environment prompted me to advance my knowledge base by attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), the institute George Eastman built, at the college of imaging sciences. Here, Rhodes Scholar Dr. Milton Cofied recruited me because of my background in media 'systems' to become a student in the new RIT program, he created, called 'Imaging Systems Management'. The program has since grown and is now called 'New Media Interactive Development' Not only was it a great learning experience but, it was exciting to be 'one of the pioneers' in new media in it's infancy, at the institute.

High Definition Experience:

For a brief period of time I was an O.E.M. contractor to the U.S. Government under a company called 'RGB Spectrum'. What this company did was supply hardware systems for U.S. and foreign military 'command centers'. This, before HD was ever a house hold phrase.

Some people have a 72 inch HD plasma screen in their house and they really think they have something going on there. Governments have MANY of these type of high definition screens grouped together to make one or several very large screens in their military command centers. Why this is important to bring up?

Even for the short period of time I worked as a contractor dealing with HD video systems. It gave me a tremendous understanding of high definition technology and it's purposes. With my knowledge base of HD systems I help my clients determine when HD is needed, along with the cost and, when they are NOT a needed.

Journalism Experience:
Although I was not schooled in journalism officially, I never the less, moved on as a O.E.M rep and worked for both NBC and Time Warner as a photo journalist. I joined the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) and became an award winning photo journalist. What does that mean for the client?

It means that I now consult with businesses about their media content and how to present that effectively to the masses. Via their web and social media sites, with the goal always to get best results. Best results meaning 'ROI', return on investment.
