The Sony PDW-F800 XD camcorder is the newest member of the HD Sony XDCAM camera family. It offers multi-format recording flexibility as standard - including SD recording and a frame rate of 23.98P in 1080 mode. It is equipped with three 2/3-inch type CCDs and a ÒPower HAD FXÓ progressive CCD with 1920 x 1080 effective pixels. Stunning-quality HD images can be captured by this high-resolution CCD and advanced digital signal. On top of the exceptional technology, the PDW-F800 offers very high quality HD recording at a data rate of up to 50Mbps using the MPEG-2 4:2:2P@HL compression. It also provides multi-format recording flexibility including 1080i, 720P and SD, which comes with HD/SD conversion and cross conversion between 1080i and 720P. With features such as Slow & Quick Motion (over-crank and under-crank recording) make the PDW-F800 ideal for cinema and TV drama productions, as wel as ENG applications.

All HD was NOT created equal!
When HD became more prevalent a few years ago and everyone rushed out to buy the latest HD toy, Elegance Digital Videography exercised patients and waited for the dust to settle from the stampede. John Housand at, Elegance Digital Videography, has been working with 'real' or true HD since the mid 1990's, for military applications. So, he knows a thing or two about the pros the cons and the limitations of the 'HD spectrum'. At Elegance Digital Videography we waited for the film and broadcast industries to work 'the bugs out' of the HD equation. Which, quite frankly, is still going on but, to a lesser degree than the last few years.

The Conclusion to the HD question was simply to get it right the first time. So, at Elegance Digital Videography we shoot and edit with strictly top of line PROFESSIONAL HD cameras and editing software. Most wedding videography companies are shooting on what is called 'prosumer' HD cameras. WE DO NOT! Below, we have posted video which explains / demos the cameras we use, and quite frankly why we use them. In the right hand column we give you the 'specs' on our cameras. The Sony XDCam, for instance, shoots video right onto a BluRay disc drive! As far as editing software goes, as I write this we are waiting for Apple to release Final Cut Pro X the latest cutting edge PROFESSIONAL editing software.
